About Us

Amplio Ventures was formed out of Amplio Recruiting, a multi-city staffing agency helping US companies hire dependable employees from the refugee workforce. After placing 5000 refugees in jobs, the greater need of job creation on a global scale was recognized and Amplio Ventures was born.

Amplio Ventures seek to focus on early stage capital for businesses restoring refugee stability. From refugee entrepreneurs to companies employing a large majority of their staff from their refugee workforce, Amplio Ventures desires potential portfolio companies to sustain the following four stakes: refugee stability, monetary velocity, growth ability and leadership vitality.

We lock arms with founders and leadership teams of portfolio companies to determine viability and leverage expert advisers in our network to support the due diligence and capital deployment processes. Share your contact info to join us in funding, advising or referring businesses restoring refugee stability.

"AMPLIO VENTURES IS DRIVEN BY PRINCIPLES, PROCESSES AND PEOPLE IN ORDER TO INVEST STRATEGICALLY IN SCALABLE BUSINESSES IMPACTING REFUGEES."

Apoorv Karmakar

Managing Director

Bio

Before joining Amplio Ventures, Apoorv Karmakar was a Senior Director at Village Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm in Washington, DC. At Village Capital, Apoorv was instrumental in helping the firm find, train, and invest in startups at the forefront of impact innovation in financial health, sustainability, and the future of work across the globe. As a leader of the firm’s investment and operational strategy, Apoorv helped Village Capital develop sector and geographic specific investment theses by identifying existing critical issues in each sector, evaluating existing solutions, and assessing the investment and exit momentum within each individual market. Apoorv’s cross-disciplinary skillsets were critical in helping Village Capital identify and invest in the most passionate and innovative entrepreneurs that typically sit in venture capital investor blind spots.

In addition to his work at Village Capital, Apoorv has also served as an advisor to several early-stage startups outside of Village Capital’s portfolio, advising entrepreneurs on a variety of different topics including how to develop and execute milestone-based strategic roadmaps, raise investments, and scale their ventures.

Prior to his role at Village Capital, Apoorv worked as a macro and geopolitical strategist, attorney, and an international tax professional, founding a law firm that successfully merged with a Tier 1 firm in India.

Apoorv has B.A. and LL.B. from Symbiosis Law School, Pune in India, a Masters in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, and Masters in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Harrisburg University of Science and Technology.
